Criteria for “Local”

We strongly believe in “getting it local” and we only accept businesses that meet BALLE (Business Alliance for Local Living Economies) criteria for what constitutes a locally owned, independent business.

In order to qualify for DealChirp, a business must answer "yes" to the following questions:

  1. Does your business have a location that corresponds to a DealChirp location in which you are registering?
  2. Is your business privately held (not publicly traded)?
  3. Is this business registered in your state with no corporate or national headquarters outside your region?
  4. Do the business owners, totaling 50% or more of the business ownership, live in your county or adjoining counties?
  5. Can the business make independent decisions regarding the name and look of the business?
  6. Can the business make independent decisions regarding all business purchasing, practices, and distribution?
  7. Does the business pay all of its own marketing fees, rent, and other business expenses without assistance from a corporate headquarters?
